Several topics about gluing thin card on a structure

So let's review the definition:

Thin card is also called cleanliness card. We use cardboard such as Bristol, Rigidex, Canson...

I generally use sheets of about 280 g and ivory color, because it is less visible than white through a thin and/or a light fabric.

When should we glue a thin card?

I systematically glue thin cards on the outside of my structures.

This is imperative with paper and necessary when covering the cardboard with a thin fabric, otherwise the Kraft paper may mark or show through.

On the other hand, if you cover your structure with a thick fabric such as hemp, you can skip this step.

Finally, you will have understood that the parts on which you will glue paperboard also escape this step.

How to glue a thin card?

Concerning the technique, I use several depending on the shape of my structure.

I invite you to consult the new free class "Different ways to glue a thin card" at the top of the page, in "Cartonnage informations" and "Mini-classes".

One thing is for sure, I always advise to cut the cards as you go along to make the edges of the cards coincide, otherwise you might not think about their thickness when taking the dimensions.

And you, do you practice differently ?
