How to set up your DIY space?

Today I thought I'd show you a little bit of my craft room to make it a little place of paradise.

First of all, I used an old piece of furniture from my parents' business that was already being used in my last house.

We cut it up so we could put a table against it, then cleaned it up, consolidated it and painted it in bright colors. I'm also going to add label holders to it.

The handles are original: My father bent threaded rods and inserted them into pieces of hose. He drilled holes in the drawers and attached the handles with nuts. He was a mechanic, home-made is in the family!

The piece of furniture, on top, comes from my grandparents and it is probably my grandfather who made it. But I don't have any proof; he would be 100 years old so needless to say I can't ask him!

I didn't have the courage to paint it like the other one so I just painted the handles to liven it up a bit.

Two drawers are missing, so we replaced them with a piece of varnished medium to make shelves.

The button cabinet, under the middle drawer, came from a grocery store that had thrown out a lot of old stuff. It's not in great shape, and the bottom drawers were moldy. After cleaning it out, I just cut thin pieces of cardboard to dress them up without gluing. There were only 128 !

My desk is a work surface attached to the wall on cleats. The right side is 70 cm deep and the return side is only 43, the width of the printer. We bought two legs, one on the right and the other at the intersection of the two parts. A 3-drawer file cabinet purchased from But is used as the third leg.

As for the tower, it is placed on a board fixed under the desk by long threaded rods.

Next time, I'll show you my custom-made work table made by my husband.

And you, do you have pictures to show me ?
