The last mini-tutorial I added to my site, shows you embossing.
For those who don't know, this technique aims to create raised shapes in a deformable material.
I don't intend to tell you about all the different embossing techniques used in scrapbooking that would require equipment, but rather to explain how to add a relief design to your cartonnage.
First of all, you will need paperboard, a faux leather (preferably fine grain or plain), your usual cartonnage glue, a cloth to press and a bone folder (or embossing pens) for the edges. In short, nothing unusual.

When you are more experienced, you will be able to use other materials such as string, sequins, artificial leaves to make the reliefs...
To begin, glue the pattern on the support, then spread glue everywhere without making clumps, especially in the corners. Then carefully press with a cloth to see the contours.
The tricky part is to get those outlines perfectly, so you'll need to run the bone folder several times to get the simili to adhere around the design. I prefer to run the thicker side first and then the sharper side through the gaps. If you use embossing pens, pass the larger one first and then the smaller one.
This should be done immediately after gluing, when the simili is still soft, so that it remains easy to work with.

You could also use paper instead of imitation, but it is more fragile, which complicates things a bit.
You will find more pictures in the mini-classes section of the site as well as the template of the leaf I used to make the tutorial.

And now it's your turn!
