Fold cardboard

Sometimes it is necessary to make folds in cardboard.

The first thing to do is to determine the direction of the cardboard , whatever its thickness, in order to make the fold in the direction of the fibers.

For thick cardboard (2 mm and more), cut the cardboard with a utility knife on about half of its thickness. For thinner cardboard, card stock, or heavy papers, mark only the paper with the back of the utility knife blade, an empty ballpoint pen, or a embossing tool with small ball.

Leave your ruler along the mark and fold down the piece of cardboard.

Once folded, if there is a big cutting space, you can fill it with a string before gluing the kraft paper strip.

Do not lay the piece flat to cover it: If you cover the inside of the piece, the fabric or paper may “curl” when folding. If you cover the outside, you could not being able to fold it again!
